At the most recent meeting of the supervisory board of HSE, majority
stakeholder in the metallurgical factory TDE in Ruse, Slovenia, the board
gave the green light for the sale of the plant to a joint venture between
Solarvalue Production d.d. and a Slovenian partner. "Subject to ministerial
approval, and finalisation of contracts, we could begin in November with
refurbishment for the production of solar silicon," says Chief Executive
Officer Claudia Boehringer. More information on the company is available
at www.solarvalue.com.
Solarvalue Production d.d. is a 100% subsidiary of Solarvalue AG, Berlin.
Already in 2007, the company plans to produce up to 2,000 t of high-
quality solar silicon (the raw material for solar cells) from metallurgical
grade silicon. In a letter of intent, a European photovoltaic group has
announced its plans for a stake in this company. In so doing, the group
intends to ensure the supply of raw material for its production activity.
Solarvalue AG was founded in June 2005 by Dr. Karoly Horvath, who has a
majority stake in the company. By founding the company, Horvath wants
to contribute to changing global energy. The initial purpose of the
company is to produce solar silicon from metallurgical grade silicon.
However, it is also planned to offer the entire value-added chain as part of
an integrated PV group of companies. Solarvalue AG has been listed for
over-the-counter trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 19
September 2006.
